The sizes of mattresses are different according to the country and manufacturers.
This chart shows the basic size of the international mattress size.

Types of Mattress

There are many kinds of mattress. It is recommended to try actual mattress before you buy as well as you lease for a long time.

2. Bonnell spring
   The Bonnell spring is the classic Spring Unit, and has, through the years, proven its worth. It is made from around hourglass shaped springs which are tied together to form a mat. A round helical crosswise connects each single spring to a spring unit.
   Different thickness (gauge) of wire in the springs makes a harder or softer mattress. The lower the gauge, the firmer the mattress is. So you can choose the softness of the mattress according to your need. The number of springs per mattress type is one of the key quality characteristics of a bonnell spring mattress.

Bed Types

Divan Bed A Divan bed consists of a mattress and a box spring, a large mattress-sized box containing wood and springs that provide additional support and suspension for the mattress. Optional headboard is needed to attach to the head of the bed. You can this type of bed from Simmons, Sealy, Nobles (Japan Bed), and France Bed (Japanese manufacturer) Divan also means daybed.
Bedstead (UK) / Frame(US) This type consists of bed frame and mattress.
Sleigh bed Slay bed also consists of bed frame and mattress, which looks like a sleigh.
Sofa bed / Sleeper There are several types of the sofa bed. Some has mattress and iron frame stored inside sofa seat. Some has a back which can be reclined to be flat.
Crib / Baby bed Usually the one side of the baby bed has a sliding side rail, so that caregivers can change diaper easily.
Bunk bed: is two or more beds one atop the other
Canopy Bed: is a bed with 4 posters and 4 side rails on the top of the bed.
Poster bed: is a bed with 4 long posters on the each corner of the bed.

Bedding / Linens / Bedroom Accessories

1. Flat sheet: the larger the cotton number is, the finer the threads are, and also more expensive.
   
2. Fitted sheet: Ends of the sheets have elastics to fit to the mattress.
   
3. Blanket: Woolen blankets are more durable than polyester blankets.
   
4. Quilt/ Duvet: Duvet is used as a bed cover with extra warmth.
   
5. Bed skirt/ Valance sheet/ Dust ruffle: are used to cover the box springs and match the rest of the bedding.
   
6. Pillow/ Feather pillows are costly but sometimes cause allergy. Polyester pillows are easy to maintain, and some are washable.
   
7. Futon: is a traditional style of Japanese bed that is also available in a larger Western style. Japanese Futon consists of Kake-futon, which serves like quilt, and Shiki-futon, which serves as mattress, basically to put on the Tatami mat.

Other Bedroom Furniture

1. Bedside Table (UK) / Night Stand (US)/ Night Table (Japan)
   Usually two night stands are used for queen and king size bed to place night lamps and have drawers or doors or shelves.
   
2. Dresser / wide chest
   Comes with mirror and can be used as dressing table.
   
3. Mirror
   Some dressers have attached mirror, to avoid drilling holes on the wall, which cause trouble with a land load.
   
4. High chest/ Tall boy / Chest of drawers
   Convenient to store clothes.
   
5. Armoire
   Armoire is a TV cabinet for bedroom. This is not so popular now.
   
6. Blanket chest
   To be placed near the footboard of a bed.
   
7. Vanity and Stool
   Vanity is used in Asian country, which is more compact in compared to a dresser.
